BassCrazy recently
asked Mark Wright about how and why he established AccuGroove. This is his
response:....
"After playing every
rig I could get my hands on, no matter how elaborate, I could not hear the
true sound of my basses. (Roscoe 6 string fretted & F Bass 6 string fretless)
This was frustrating because I was spending most of my time trying to dial
in a sound I could live with, instead of staying in the pocket. In other
words, I was preoccupied with tweaking, instead of grooving.
Since no one else
was building a cabinet that solved my problem, I decided to do it myself.
As they say, necessary is the mother of invention. My good friend & now
partner, David Innis, helped me with the
design, components, building, testing and could not have happened without
him.
Basically, we looked at what wasn't working with other cabinets &
designed one from the ground up. To get there, we tested every cabinet design
we could & every speaker we could from all over the world. This was
crazy, because it was a personal cabinet for me, not to market. It shows how frustrated I was with my sound & I was not
going to stop until I found the perfect sound.
Our competition splits the sound
into a two way system using bass and highs. God gave us the idea to divide
the sonic spectrum up into four separate areas. Sub bass, mid-bass, mid-range
and highs all in one cabinet. This translates into a sound that is natural
because there are no holes from the lowest notes to the highest. Each driver
is separated from the others by having their own individual cabinet within
the main cabinet. It's like taking four unique speaker cabinets and combining
them into one compact box.
Myron Dove (Santana) heard my personal
cabinet & wanted to place an order. When I told him this was the only
one & it wasn't for sale, he insisted on ordering a couple. Then he told
me it was the best cabinet he has ever played through & that I, as a
bass player, owed it to the bass community to bring them to market, because
it would fill a huge void.
God, are you trying to tell me something?
You mean this whole, reinventing of the
bass cabinet wasn't just for me, but to share with the world & bring
you Glory? Wow!
We had already built the best, no
compromise cabinet. Now it was time to start a no compromise company based
on Christian principles. This means conducting business in a way many in
the music industry were not use to; with integrity. It also means that things
take longer to get done. It means that you don't pass the buck, but accept
the responsibility when things go wrong and you give God the Glory when things
go right."
Thanks Mark, and
God Bless!!!
